Marla's debut at an adoption event

Save Me Rescue was honoured to be invited to participate in a recent Adoption Event at Global Pet Foods in Mississauga, Ontario
We had a great turn out and lots of interest in all of our foster dogs.
Marla was wonderful as usual and loved meeting all the people;  she especially loved the attention.  I'm so proud of her.

Marla gets a much needed bath!

Marla enjoyed a wonderful stress-free bath and spa day, thanks to Pet Valu and their newest  self-serve bathing station.  No fuss, no muss!   In and out in a spiff!  Marla did great and was so good for her bath.  She especially loved ALL the attention she received from the store owner!  No surprise there as everyone who meets Marla instantly falls in love with her.

ALL POOPED OUT AFTER A LONG BUSY DAY!

Casey HAS ADOPTION PENDING!

I'm going HOME in time for Christmas.
Wishes DO come true!

My beautiful little scruffy ball of happiness has an ADOPTION PENDING!  Casey will be going home soon and just in time for Christmas!  Looks like the Christmas DOGS were listening and answered all his prayers.  Casey is going HOME!
We are going to miss the little guy and all his goofiness, but couldn't be  more happy for Casey and his new family .   He's going to have two older (human) siblings to hang and play with, along with a 'mom' and 'dad' to love and spoil him!   He's going to love all the attention.   He won't be looking back, only forward from now on...to a long and happy, healthy life and future...one that he would not have had the opportunity to enjoy if it had not been for Save Me Rescue stepping up in the knick of time to save him.  Bravo Save Me Rescue, Bravo!!  Another life saved!

A HUGE shout out and Thank YOU (once again) to Sheikh Photography for their amazing professional photos. Good quality / professional photos make all the difference in the world when it come to finding homes for rescued dog and could also mean the difference between life and death.

The Divine Miss. 'M' meets Sheikh Photography = the perfect subject!

Marla aka {The Divine Miss. 'M'} was a perfect subject for the photo-shoot with Sheikh Photography on a gorgeous fall day.  We couldn't have picked a more beautiful day.   I think Marla enjoyed the temptation to chase local squirrels more then anything. They surely did get her going.   Other then wanting to chase squirrels,  Marla's a pretty laid back girl who enjoys snuggling on the couch with her humans.

ADOPT ME!
Hi, I'm MARLA!  My foster mum prefers to call me 'The Divine Miss. 'M' !  She says it suites me perfectly.  I, along with many others would concur...it does!  She goes on and on about me to everyone...how delightful I am;  NO convincing needed there as everyone I meet instantly falls in love with me!  I'm quite the gentle lady and the sweetest lab you'll meet.  I was a 'shelter dog' , but was so stressed in the shelter so the staff decided to promote me to official office dog.  I did a great job as the office dog, if I do say so myself!  Although everyone who met me loved me, no one was able to adopt me,  for whatever their reason.  That did make me very sad. :(
I am trustworthy outside the crate and foster mum never crates me; there's no need for it.  At first the shelter staff thought I might be 10 years old (which didn't work in my favour for adoption), however, after arriving in rescue, the vets here think I'm  5-6 years old approximately.  Yay for me!  I hope this helps to improve my chances for adoption, surely it should, right?  I believe in second chances now after SAVE ME Rescue sprung me from the shelter...and an uncertain future where I had little hope finding a home of my own.  Being a black dog also didn't help.  I know that sounds pretty silly, but (some) people do believe in all kinds of crazy and untrue things about black dogs.  Black dogs are NO different then other dogs, aside from the colour of their fur.  There is a thing called 'Black Dog Syndrome' that exists...believe it or not.  Black Dogs are just as deserving of second chances too.  I'm a pretty easy going gal and so laid back.  I'm a quiet girl who will on occasion voice my opinions with a small deep sounding woof sound, but that's it.  I'm not a huge barker.  I'm a happy girl who's tail is always wagging to meet you. I like other dogs...cats too!  I'm also perfectly house-trained (bragging rights!) so NO accidents here folks!  You can't get any better then that.  I'm learning to ride in cars and do get car sick, but with a bit of gravol or something or something from the vets, this is completely manageable.  Some dogs do get over their car sickness with time.  My foster mum has another foster dog who would get car sick but that dog is completely fine in the car now and actually loves going for car rides now!  So there is hope for me too.
I did have surgery for kidney stones before I came into rescue, so this will need to be managed with a special diet to prevent this from recurring in the future.  There are many store bought brands of food that are highly recommended, as well as food from the vet to help with this.  I have had x-rays done to check my hips and more good news...NO hip dysplasia or arthritis to report!!!  Yay me!!  I'm a calm, gentle gal, suitable for almost any living situation.
As my foster mum would say 'I'm simply DIVINE!'
THANK YOU SAVE ME Rescue from the bottom of my heart for giving me a second chance.  I don't know where I would be today without your help.  Please...all I ask is that you take a second look at black dogs and give them a chance.  You just might save a life in the process.
Thank you for reading my story.
Marla
